Signing agreement on building protective battlements around the shooting range in Pancevoi
Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac and Pancevo Mayor Vesna Martinovic signed today in the city administration building a contract to build the protective battlements on the shooting range.
According to the minister of defense the city of Pancevo is extremely important for the Ministry of Defense and the SAF which is why we want better cooperation with local governments.- Thanks to the agility of the Mayor today, we signed an agreement on joint construction of battlements, which will allow the Serbian Army to safely carry out their activities, and on the other side 600 acres of space will be freed where they will be able to continue with the development of the city, said the defense minister.
He also remarked that he had discussed with the mayor about the possibility of building housing units for members of the Serbian Army.
- It is known that we launched in several cities in Serbia-building pre fabricated houses produced only by the Ministry of Defence and the possibility that such houses are building on the grounds of certain barracks that are in Pancevo, as the minister explained and added that this was another way of solving housing military personnel.
Addressing the problem of the Army House in Pancevo, said the Minister, is essential for the Defense Ministry and the Serbian Army.

There are surpluses within the Army House that can be put into operation for the city and the citizens of Pancevo and I think it's a very good idea. Let me remind you, we are exchanging property n some cities. In Nis for example we are also planning a joint approach, i.e. making the Congress Centre. I believe that Pancevo needs a congress center too, and we would be glad to build it in cooperation with local government, the minister said, adding that it the name of Army House will remain.Pancevo Mayor Vesna Martinovic said that Pancevo citizens had a problem with the prohibition of construction in one part of the area that covers over 600 acres of land.
- After a very quick, short and effective negotiations, we managed to reach common solutions where the Ministry of Defense and the city of Pancevo agreed on building battlements, thus creating technical requirements to minimize construction prohibition zone, said the mayor and said that the city now has approximately 600 acres of land that will be used for the construction of the northern industrial zone at its disposal.
She noted that this is an important project that is tied to the economic development of Pancevo, and that his plan to transform the Army in Pancevo in the Congress Centre, which would use the city together, and the Ministry of Defence.
As one of the next steps of cooperation with the Ministry of Defence is the reconstruction of the house, and its adaptation of the Congress Center, as Mayor Martinovic announced.The contract signed today provides co-financing the construction of shooting ranges around the battlements in the "Rastko Nemanjic barracks." Half of the funds needed for this project are provided by the Ministry of Defense, and the other half by Pancevo. In this way the shooting grounds are placed at units’ disposal to carry out firing exercise on it, instead of going to a shooting range Bubanj potok. In return, the city of Pancevo assumed reduction in the protective zone around the shooting of four and a half kilometers down to 500 meters. In this way local government will have approximately 600 acres of land free which can be used for the development of industrial zones.
