Military Hospital Niš Gets New Multislice Scanner

Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović PhD visited the Military Hospital Niš which received a new multislice scanner. He extended his gratitude to military doctors and medical technicians for their day and night fight for the health of their patients, and he expressed his satisfaction with equipping the Niš military hospital with the state-of-the-art equipment, underlining the significance of investing in the capacities and salary increase which is to be given to members of the defence system starting from next year, owing to the understanding of President Vučić.

- First of all, I am glad because the military healthcare system has in mind the state-of-the-art equipment when planning to procure new equipment. Though formally this is a military hospital, it is in fact Niš and the entire south of Serbia that is getting the new 126-slice scanner today, that will allow patients to get rather clear diagnostic results in as short time as possible, with as little of radiation as possible. I hope that the results will be such that we will have minimal requirement for medical treatment, and that the people here will be satisfied because they will have superb health care - Minister Stefanović said.

He also noted that the superb health care is naturally made of personnel, and he thanked the personnel of the Military Hospital Niš on gruelling work that they had done over the previous period.

- It is not only Covid, which they got to grips with, but there were various other diseases as well. Those people were literary day and night on their tasks. We are trying to financially support their work as much as possible, to enable them to work with instruments, equipment and devices that are the best and of the highest quality. We are looking for the way to overcome different challenges, and having in mind that this is primarily intended for military insured persons, we are searching for an administrative way to enable civilian insured persons to get medical treatment in all military establishments - Minister Stefanović said.

He reminded that our Military Medical Academy has been available to all citizens of Serbia practically 24 hours a day since the beginning of Covid outbreak.

- I cannot say that we do not face challenges, since we are currently doing it using our own resources, and we are looking for a way to overcome the problem of financing the medical treatment of civilian insured persons having in mind that we cover only to fund for military insured persons. However, the citizens will not worry about that; that is our task. I believe that the cooperation between military and civilian health care system, which is also extraordinary and, according to me, in the best state ever, as well as permanent coordination and talks will enhance the quality level of services that we provide to the people, and this also improves the understanding of what it is that we should do in the future - Minister Stefanović said.

He noted the significance of investments in capacities of the overall health care system in entire Serbia.

- We have to fight in unison to preserve the health of our people, and one of the important things today is not to invest solely in Belgrade, as it used to be the case in the past. Hence, when Belgrade gets a scanner, Niš gets it as well. I wish to express my gratitude once again to President Vučić for something that is very important to us and that is his understanding, which is why as early as next January we will be in a position to considerably increase salaries of our members, and I am glad that it is obvious that apart from investing in the military health care system, we are willing to invest in people as well, and we want to improve their social status, since we are aware of the importance of encouraging the people to stay in our country, to stay in the system of national health care to provide assistance to people wherever it is needed - Minister Stefanović said.

The new scanner that the Niš military hospital received is a 128-slice device of the latest generation with exceptional diagnostic capabilities, and it is intended for a wide spectrum of diagnostic procedures. Also, the area where the scanner has been installed is completely renovated.
