The Military Museum, the Aviation Museum and the Central Military Club's Gallery in Belgrade will open their doors free of charge to all visitors for the "Museums for 10" event, which will be held from 12 to 18 May under the slogan "The Future of Museums: New Ideas, New Practices".

Visitors to the Military Museum will be able to see the permanent exhibition in the Kalemegdan park and the exhibition entitled "Heroes of the Homeland Killed during the NATO Aggression in 1999" in the Gallery in Balkanska Street, every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday, 15 May, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Visitors can take a free tour of the permanent exhibition in the Aviation Museum on weekdays and on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday, 15 May, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. They will also be able to see the exhibition entitled "April 41" in the Central Military Club’s Gallery every day during the event from 10 a.m to 10 p.m.

The Military Museum’s permanent exhibition presents a period of 14 centuries - the fight for freedom from the settlement of Slavs in the Balkans, the creation of the first South Slavic medieval states, to the most recent wars in the 1990s. Seeing the most diverse weapons, items of military clothing and uniforms, flags, decorations, photographs and works of art, visitors can gain insight into national history and culture and the various achievements of civilization in our area.

The exhibition "Heroes of the Homeland Killed during the NATO Aggression in 1999" (in Balkanska Street) is dedicated to the killed and missing defenders of the homeland during the armed action in Kosovo and Metohija on 10 February 1998 and during the two-month NATO aggression in the spring of 1999. Photographs and personal data of the killed and missing fighters are displayed in alphabetical order.
The Aviation Museum’s permanent exhibition, stretching across 6,000 square metres of exhibition space, covers almost the entire century of aviation with exhibits from the pioneer era to the modern age. More than 70 original airplanes, seaplanes, helicopters and gliders, dozens of aircraft engines and other equipment and parts are exhibited in the museum.

The exhibition "April 41" in the Central Military Club’s Gallery, organized on the occasion of the eightieth anniversary of the beginning of the Second World War, serves as a reminder as to how in April 1941 a modern, sovereign European state was brutally attacked, with catastrophic consequences for the lives of its citizens and its heritage. The exhibition displays numerous objects, photographs and documents that testify to the severity of the conflict, the people’s strength of will and the destinies of individuals. The exhibits include parts of aircraft used in combat over Belgrade and other places in Yugoslavia, personal belongings of Yugoslav pilots and other members of the Yugoslav Army who heroically defended their homeland. The exhibition was created in cooperation with the Aviation Museum, the Military Museum, the Military Archive and the Media Centre "Odbrana", under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia.

The "Museums for 10" event is a national museum initiative, the largest in Serbia and unique in Europe, which is being held for the seventh time in our country under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia. This year, more than 90 museums and related institutions throughout Serbia are participating in the event that takes place from 12 to 18 May, marking the European Night of Museums (15 May), International Museum Day (18 May) and the National Museum Week.
