Minister of Defense and Head of the Working Group for Migrations Aleksandar Vulin presented with the Recognition of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia
Minister Vulin: Serbia remains the most organized country on the migrant route
All citizens of Serbia can be proud of how the state of Serbia is organized and how it dealt with and deals with the consequences of the migrant crisis. Serbia has proven to be by far the most organized country on the migrant route. All migrants are absolutely under control in our system, they are cared for, treated humanely and our daily lives are not endangered in any way – said the Minister of Defense and the Head of the Working Group for solving the mixed migration flows, Aleksandar Vulin, who was presented with the Golden Recognition of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia at the Center in Krnjaca today.
Minister Vulin pointed out that for migrants, Serbia is only a transit station on the way to Western European countries and that very few people seek asylum in Serbia.- Even during the most difficult days of the migrant crisis, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić was there to show by personal example that there is no reason to be afraid of these people, rather to show how organized and successful Serbia is in dealing with the consequences of the migrant crisis. All Serbian citizens can be completely peaceful. The system works, these people are taken care of, they are within the scope of our law – said the Minister of Defense.
It is up to us, to Serbia, said Minister Vulin, to show that all things are absolutely under control and that much larger, richer and more developed countries can envy us on the people who are dealing with the migrant crisis, on the system we have established and on our capabilities to make people who need help feel dignified.
Giving thanks for the received Recognition, Minister Vulin said that it was a great and undeserved joy for him because he “was only there to help the country as much as he could and as much as it was in his power”, and that the members of the Commissariat were the ones who made Serbia appear great in the eyes of the world after a long time.
Commissariat Recognition was presented to Minister Vulin by Commissioner Vladimir Cucić, who said that the acknowledgment was only a way to express gratitude for all types of personal engagement and support that Minister Vulin has provided and which as Head of the Working Group on mixed migration flows still continues to provide.- We are pleased that today was an opportunity to meet with Minister Vulin here in our Center. We wanted to express our gratitude in this way for all types, not only of support but also of personal engagement. This manner of recognition is given to Minister Vulin on behalf of all the people who work at the Commissariat. He is assigned as a fellow member, not as a politician – pointed out Commissioner Cucić and said that the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration will continue to do its job for simple fact that it is an issue in which Serbia must continue to be responsible, organized and perform in a manner which other will look up to in the future, in our European accession and European commitments.
The “migrant crisis” heroes are also employed by the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration. Miloš Tintar and Jelena Radonjić spoke about how difficult and responsible their work was.
Miloš has been working at the Commissariat for three years. He is currently the Head of shift at the Obrenovac Reception Center.
- Obrenovac Reception Center is the largest center in the territory of the Republic of Serbia. Our job is to respond to the demands of the migrants, their needs on a daily basis. Our goal is to care for these people, to provide various types of assistance, psychological or any other health care – explains Tintar and says that although the job at the Commissariat is difficult, everyone is trying to do it in the best possible way.
Jelena is employed at “Miksalište” (Mixing site) – the only emergency shelter in Belgrade that works around the clock.- The “Miksalište” is open 24 hours for all vulnerable categories, families with young children, medical cases, specific cases, all arriving late at night, so as not to have them exposed to various hazards on the street. We are here to provide them with social support and medical assistance and everything they need until they go to one of the Centers – Radonjić points out, adding that in this difficult and responsible job, employees need to be constantly attentive in order to provide adequate help.
