Holy Cross in the hands of Serbian Armed Forces members





Swimming at four locations today, in Stari Banovci, Svrljig, Kuršumlija and Vlasina Lake, the first to reach the Holy Cross were the members of the Serbian Armed Forces. On the occasion of the traditional Christian holiday of Epiphany, on 29 rivers and lakes throughout Serbia swimming for the Holy Cross was organized, in which dozens of members of the Serbian Armed Forces took part.
 
Major Milan Žunić of 204 Air Force Brigade was the fastest in the Epiphany Swim organized in Stari Banovci, while Lieutenant Aleksandar Stanković from 63 Parachute Battalion of the Special Brigade of the Land Forces was the first to reach the Holy Epiphany Cross in Svrljig.
 
Professional soldier Srđan Ranđelović from 37 Mechanized Battalion of the Third Brigade of the Land Forces was the most successful in swimming for the Holy Epiphany Cross that was organized in Kuršumlija, while professional soldier Nikola Nedeljković from 40 Battalion of the Fourth Brigade of the Land Forces was the first to swim to the Holy Epiphany Cross on the Vlasina Lake.
 
Epiphany is celebrated throughout Serbia today with liturgies in Orthodox churches, and in rivers and lakes the bravest swam the 33-meter-long track that symbolizes the age of Christ, to reach the Holy Epiphany Cross. More than 300 members of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces took part in swimming for the Holy Epiphany Cross and the organization of this, now traditional, event in 29 locations across our country.
