“The Balkan Friendship Jump 2018” Officially Opened




 
The event “Balkan Friendship Jump 2018” was officially opened today at the sports airfield “Lisičji jarak” in Belgrade.
 
The event was attended by State Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and sports Predrag Peruničić, Head of Intelligence and Reconnaissance Department of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Brigadier General Ilija Todorov, Head of Human Resources Department of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Colonel Savo Iriškić, veteran parachutists, representatives of Serbian Orthodox Church, associations and numerous guests.
 
As in previous years, the event gathered several hundred of parachutists from Serbia, Macedonia, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, France, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Russia, Israel and Australia.
 
The first three jumps at the event were conducted by parachutists Milan Svetozarević, Siniša Mićić and Vladimir Kržalić.
 
Opening this sports spectacle, State Secretary Peruničić wished safe and pleasant competition to the participants and expressed his satisfaction with traditionally great number of participants.
 
Colonel Iriškić said that he was happy because since the very beginnings of the event, the Serbian Armed Forces had participated in its organisation.
 
- The Ministry of Defence has lately revived the whole-hearted cooperation with associations which have their place and role within defence system and provide significant contribution to defence of the country - Colonel Iriškić pointed out.
 
The gathered were also addressed by the President of the Aeronautical Union of Serbia Labud Bulatović and priest Mijajlo Backović.
 
The event is organised by Veteran Parachute Club of the 63rd Parachuting Brigade “Arhistratig” and the Aeronautical Union of Serbia with the support of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Interior, Mission of the Republic of Srpska in Belgrade and parachute clubs “Feniks” and “Delta”.
 
“The Balkan Friendship Jump” has been held since 1993 when it was organised for the first time by Greek Union of Reserve Parachutists and the 63rd Parachute Brigade from Serbia.
