Commemoration Service for Lieutenant Colonel Miroslav Perišić

In the Town Assembly of Kragujevac a commemoration service was held for Lieutenant Colonel Miroslav Perišić, who tragically lost his life in the accident in the Technical Overhaul Facility.

Apart from the family of Lieutenant Colonel Perišić, his relatives and numerous friends and colleagues, many members of AF and AD, particularly from 250th AD Rocked Brigade, the commemorative service was attended by the Mayor of the town of Kragujevac, Radomir Nikolić and the representatives of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Interior.

Addressing the family of the perished Perišić and all the present at the commemorative service, Deputy Director of the TOF, Lieutenant Colonel Dragan Žunić emphasised the courage, a principled attitude and self-sacrifice of the officer who had always been in the front ranks, among the people he commanded from the very graduation from the Military Academy and on various duties in the Serbian Armed Forces units.

- You never doubted, not even for a second, whether to go where it was the hardest, in the moments of the greatest challenges for the collective, fighting shoulder to shoulder with workers and firemen against the blazing fire and threatening explosion. After only two years of work in the Technical Overhaul Facility, you gained numerous friends and respect as an officer, colleague, parent, and husband… We promise you that we will take care of your son as parents would, and we will help your wife in the most difficult moments, to overcome the pain of your premature departure- Žunić said.

Parting from his yesterday’s colleague, Commander of 310th Self-propelled Rocket Battalion, Colonel Stojan Simijonović said that being an officer implies many challenges, and even the gravest ones.

- Even during the horrible whirl of war that caught our country in 1999, you were at the forefront of the unit which you commanded. You were fearless, just like you were on that faithful 28th February when you stood yet again in the front ranks to protect the property and human lives. You showed that you were worthy of your ancestors and that you carried within you the greatest values of a man. These are the values that you have undoubtedly left as a heritage to your son Veljko- said Colonel Simijonović.
