The Minister of Defence Received the Ambassador of Morocco



The Minister of Defence, Zoran Đorđević, received today the newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco in Belgrade, Mohamed Amine Belhaj.

The interlocutors exchanged opinions on politico-security situation in the region and world and agreed that the traditionally friendly bilateral relations provided a sound basis for establishment and enhancement of defence cooperation. In that respect, Minister Đorđević confirmed the readiness of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia to develop bilateral defence cooperation with the Moroccan side in all the domains of mutual interest. They mutually stressed the significance of signing the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Defence as a formal and legal framework for the future development of the cooperation.
 
Ambassador Belhaj was informed about the current position and views of the official Belgrade on the issues that are significant for Serbia, the EU accession process, engagement of the members of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces in multinational operations, as well as about the activities and results of the Joint military and police forces on the prevention of illegal entrance and smuggling of illegal migrants to the territory of Serbia.
 
Minister Đorđević extended gratitude for the principled support that Morocco provides to legitimate efforts of Serbia aimed at preservation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
 
The Minister expressed the readiness of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia to support an array of events that the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco will organise to mark 60th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
