Riverine Flotilla Vessels

The Riverine Flotilla (RF) is a brigade-level unit, professionally and technically equipped and trained to carry out defense and security tasks on internal waterways, ensure safe navigation and conduct rescue operations on rivers, canals, and lakes. It also provides assistance to the population in the event of natural disasters, and participates in peacekeeping operations and international military cooperation.
The Riverine Flotilla consists of a command and four detachment/battalion-level units: two river detachments and two pontoon battalions.
The RF command is located in Novi Sad. The unit's day is celebrated on August 19th, marking the Day of River Units and the Day of RF. On this day in 1915, the first Serbian warship, the "Jadar," was launched on the Sava River near Belgrade's Čukarica, officially marking the formation of the Serbian riverine flotilla. The "Jadar" was part of the Ada Ciganlija command and, along with other ships, participated in the battles to defend the city of Belgrade in October 1915.
The echelon of RF vessels from the special-purpose ship "Kozara" is commanded by Captain Darko Stričić.
