Expert talks about participation of Serbian Armed Forces in EU Battlegroup
In the "Banjica-2" barracks in Belgrade, today, expert talks began between representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and representatives of the Hellenic Republic, as a Framework Nation, and the participating countries of the European Union HELBROC Battlegroup.
Expert talks are a continuation of consultations started in Athens in May 2016 with the aim of defining the conditions of accession of the Republic of Serbia, i.e. the Serbian Armed Forces, to the European Union Battlegroup Concept.
During the two-day meeting, they will discuss the draft accession document and forces with which the Serbian Armed Forces will participate in the EU HELBROC Battlegroup. On behalf of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces the talks are held by the Department for Planning and Development of the General Staff, with the participation of representatives of the competent organizational units of the Ministry of Defence, General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Land Force Command.
Participation of the Serbian Armed Forces in the EU Battlegroup concept is a continuation of the contribution of the Republic of Serbia to the EU Common Security and Defence Policy and it is part of the medium-term development plans and programmes of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.
