The Day of Moma Stanojlovic Aviation Institute

The Day of Moma Stanojlovic Aviation Institute– 1st July, and a century since the establishment of the Aeroplane Workshop in Corfu, was marked in Batajnica today.

Apart from the representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, representatives of companies and business associates, as well as employees of the Institute, the ceremony was attended by Major General Ranko Zivak, AF&AD Commander.

He pointed out that "ever since the dream offlying started to turn into reality, people watched what is happening in the sky with admiration and awe".

- The fame often belonged to the people who pilot the steel birds, although all those involved in flying are very well aware of the fact that without serviceable and prepared techniques the dream of flying would be very quickly dispelled. You performed your tasks fairly, responsibly and professionally, drawing maximum from what you had at your disposal, and sometimes you did more than that, which is why I command you and distinguish you as an example, General Zivak said to the employees.

Colonel Despot Jankovic, Director of the Aviation Institute, reminded the audience that it has been a hundred years since the Aeroplane Workshop "has developed a thread of industrial development of the Serbian aviation and thus interwoven the path on which the history of the Institute has been written".

- Knowing the conditions in which the pioneering steps of our service from 1916 were made and deeply aware of the economic constraints of the current moment, we fearlessly look to the future convinced of the unbreakable bond of our Air Force and its Repair Institute, Colonel Jankovic said.

After the official speech of the commander, incentives were allocated and awards were presented to outstanding individuals and collectives as well as letters of gratitude to the business associates.

On the occasion of the jubilee, last night in the Yugoslav Drama Theatre, a formal ceremony was held, attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Nenad Neric, Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and numerous associates of the Institute.
