General Djordjevic at the Annual Security Review Conference





Major General Sladjan Djordjevic, Head of Defence Policy Sector of the Ministry of Defence, is participating on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces at the Annual Security Review Conference (ASRC), which brings together senior officials of the OSCE participating States. The Conference will be held from 28th to 30th June 2016. It was organized by the FR Germany, currently presiding the OSCE.

The ASRC provides a framework for strengthening security dialogue, which among other things, includes the implementation of the OSCE Strategy to identify threats to security and stability in the 21st century, the implementation of OSCE commitments in the fight against terrorism, the politico-military security aspects, implementation of the decisions and activities of the OSCE in the field of early warning, conflict prevention and post-conflict recovery.

ASRC includes also activities related to the security of the institutions of the Organization and field operations, as well as issues related to security in the OSCE region.

The conference also provides an opportunity to exchange views on issues related to arms control and other confidence- and security-building measures, and to promote the exchange of information and co-operation with relevant international and regional organizations and institutions.
The three-day conference is divided in several special and working sessions which will discuss the following topics: Ensuring security and stability in the OSCE region in light of developments with respect to Ukraine; Conflict situations in the OSCE area – security aspects; Challenges arising from current migration trends; Conventional arms control and confidence- and security-building measures: problems and prospects; Bolstering the OSCE’s conflict cycle toolbox and Countering terrorism – transnational threats in the OSCE area.

The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe is the largest regional security organization in the world that brings together 57 participating states, partners for cooperation and has 16 field missions.
