Seeing members of the Serbian Armed Forces off to multinational operation in Lebanon



Today, at the First Infantry Regiment Knjaz Milos Veliki barracks in Vranje, a ceremony has been organized on the occasion of sending members of an infantry company and a force protection platoon from the Fourth Army Brigade to the United Nations UNIFIL mission in Lebanon.

The ceremony was attended by Army Commander Lieutenant General Milosav Simovic, Commander of the Fourth Army Brigade, Brigadier General Zoran Lubura, Chief of the Multinational Operations Centre, Colonel Milivoje Pajovic, Head of Pčinj administrative district, Slavisa Bulatovic, Vranje City Mayor Zoran Antic, President of Trgoviste Municipality Nenad Krstic, representatives of Surdulica Municipality, police departments of Vranje and Gnjilane, Security and Information Agency, relatives and friends of commanding officers and soldiers who are off to peacekeeping mission, and other guests.

General Simovic, addressing the audience, wished the peacekeepers safe trip to Lebanon, good health and successful execution of their tasks in the multinational operation in Lebanon.

- Be proud and dignified soldiers of the Serbian Armed Forces. You are prepared for this important task for our country and our military. I am happy that you will come back more experienced, more mature and more professional for the realisation of our first and foremost mission, and this is the defence of the fatherland Serbia – General Simovic said.

General Simovic handed the flag of the Republic of Serbia to the Infantry Company Commander Miodrag Mladenovic and Force Protection Platoon Leader Captain Ivica Barac, and on that occasion they stressed that they will perform all the tasks responsibly, professionally and honourably and represent the Serbian Armed Forces and the Republic of Serbia in a dignified manner.

Contingent of the Serbian Armed Forces, with 169 persons, will carry out the tasks in Lebanon for the next six months. In a few days, members of the Third Brigade, who have been in Lebanon since November 2015, will return from the mission.
