The second press conference on the occasion of the forthcoming, the 13th edition of the "Night of the Museums" event was held today at the Central Military Club featuring a rich programme of events which is to be held on 21 May at hundreds of locations in 49 cities and towns in Serbia.

The founder of the "Night of the Museums", Ana Jovanovic, pointed out that the organizers have worked hard for months to prepare an excellent programme for one of the most popular cultural events in our country in order for this evening to be "special and different in many ways".

Among more than one hundred events at 70 locations in the capital, Odbrana Media Centre traditionally opens its doors to visitors, for the thirteenth time. Director of that institution, Colonel Stevica S. Karapandzin said that the "Night of the Museums" is an opportunity to present to the public the programme they prepared.

- We will welcome all those who set foot on 21 May in the former Warrior’s Club, according to the old Serbian tradition, with bread, because in the Small Gallery there is an exhibition "Bread in the Great War", and the visitors will have opportunity to try the military bread – "tain". In the Great Gallery, a multimedia project "Repairman for Cars and Human Souls", an exhibition dedicated to an extraordinary man, a car mechanic from Belgrade, poet, gallerist, sculptor, TV screenwriter and a satirist, Dragisa Krunic, will be presented. At 5 and 6 pm, at the Conference Hall, documentary films produced by RTS and "Zastava film" Military Film Centre "Serbia in the Great War" and "Serbs on Corfu" will be released. We have also prepared a gift concert of the "Stanislav Binički" Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence in front of the Central Military Club at 7 pm, Col. Karapandzin said.

He added that in the context of the visitors of the exhibition "Literature in the Great War", actors of the Academy of Arts will revive characters from the literature by Branislav Nusic, Ivo Andric, Milutin Bojic and others, in the Ceremonial Hall, which will traditionally open doors of ceremonial exhibition rooms where a selection of paintings and sculptures of eminent artists will be exposed, and that the book lovers will be able to enjoy in the publications of Odbrana Media Centre in the Atrium and they will be able to buy them at reasonable prices.

- The Military Museum is also participating in this year's "Night of the Museums" with its permanent exhibition and the current exhibition "The withdrawal through Albania and stay of the Serbian Army in Corfu", and in front of the museum two Tito’s cars will be placed and film material produced by MFC "Zastava film" from that period that has never been broadcasted, will be released, the director of the Odbrana Media Centre said.

At today's press conference, the programmes of the Museum of the Yugoslav Film Archives, the Museum of African Art, PC Belgrade Fortress, the Museum of Science and Technology, as well as the Heritage House and the Railway Museum were presented.

The 13th "Night of the Museums" will be held from 17 pm until 1 am. First meetings with the museums and discovering of the new worlds along with art and culture will mark the Children's tour of the event in Belgrade.

The “Night of the Museums", held with the support of the EU Delegation in Serbia, represents a unique cultural spectacle in more than 120 cities worldwide, including Belgrade. The first manifestation that took place in five Belgrade museums and galleries, succeeded in attracting more than 4,000 visitors, while in ten years, that number grew to 500,000 visits of the museums at nearly 200 locations in more than 60 cities and towns across Serbia. Last year, more than 1,900 museums in 45 countries participated in the European "Night of the Museums".
