Intense military cooperation with the United Kingdom

Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic met with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom, Denis Keefe. During the talks, they summarized the good and intensive defence cooperation which was found to be the best part of the overall bilateral relations between the two countries.

Minister Djordjevic thanked the Ambassador Keefe for the support in the process of European integration, which is of strategic importance for Serbia, especially in the previous period of opening the new chapters in the negotiations with the EU. In this sense, Serbia is ready to build the capacities and capabilities of the national security and defence in accordance with the standards and obligations arising from the Common Security and Defence Policy, and the Serbian Government last year adopted a Conclusion on the accession to the EU Battle Group concept.

Djordjevic pointed out that the Ministry of Defence led a balanced defence policy and is constantly working on improvement and further qualitative development of relations in the field of defence with all countries and international organizations, in accordance with the defined national interests. Likewise, it continues to actively participate in regional security initiatives and organizations operating in the region of Southeast Europe, because, according to the Defence Minister: "We wish to be part of the solution within the European framework, but we will primarily take care of our own national interests and their protection."
