Continued good defence cooperation with France

Intense defence cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the French Republic are reflected in the activities contained in the 2016 Bilateral Military Cooperation Programme, as it was noted during the signing of the Programme by Head of the Department for International Military Cooperation, Navy Captain Milan Konjikovac, and Defence Attaché Lieutenant Colonel Olivier Ruane.

Both sides agreed that cooperation in the field of participation in multinational operations is of major military and political importance, and that it is necessary to use the potentials for significant improvement of cooperation in this area, bearing in mind the ever more present regional and global security risks.

Navy Captain Konjikovac said that military education remains one of the focal areas, as evidenced by many years of sending Serbian officers to education and training in prestigious French military schools. He noted that this year the members of the Military Academy will attend the final stage of performing strategic and operational exercises of the participants of the War College "Coalition 2016", which allows the analysis of the role of diplomacy, the media, governmental and non-governmental organizations in support of the armed forces for finding possible options in resolving the crisis situations.

Lieutenant Colonel Ruane said that he expected in the forthcoming period the military economic cooperation to be continued towards cherishing traditions and marking anniversaries of the historical dates.
