Defence Minister receives Italian Ambassador

Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic and Italian Ambassador Giuseppe Manzo agreed at today's meeting that cooperation between the two countries in the field of defence follows the overall bilateral relations that are stable and traditionally friendly.

The crown of cooperation is in the previous joint participation in multinational operations, particularly the engagement in the UN mission in Lebanon. The positive experience, gained trust and strong relationships from the field are the best basis for considering further joint activities, the interlocutors assessed.

Minister Djordjevic said that the support and understanding of Italy during the opening of chapters in the negotiations with the EU are very important and useful. He also expressed appreciation for the professional engagement of the Italian armed forces within KFOR.

Defence Minister informed the Italian Ambassador of the priority activities in the framework of cooperation with the European Union in the field of defence. The interlocutors assessed that the engagement of MoD and SAF in multinational operations under the auspices of the EU provides a favourable impact on the overall process of the European integration of Serbia.
