Minister of Defence meets Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic and Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina Lazar Mirkic discussed today the possibilities for enhancing the cooperation between the two countries in the field of defence.

At the meeting, they concluded that the political and overall relations between the two countries are good and stable and that the defence cooperation represents the crown of good political and economic relations. A positive trend in this area is evidenced by the first bilateral defence consultations between the Ministries of Defence of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which were held last month. Since this provides an opportunity to intensify cooperation, Djordjevic i Mirkic agreed that this practice should be continued in the forthcoming period.

Further improvement of military economic cooperation and alignment with the overall good economic relations are in the mutual interest.

The two countries are signatories to the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of European integration, which opens up even greater opportunities in the area of promoting the regional stability. It was concluded at the meeting that the good regional relations will contribute to the economic prosperity and the European perspective of the Western Balkan states.

In addition, tighter integration and cooperation of the regional countries through intensified cooperation of intelligence and security agencies and the constant exchange of information is the only effective response in the fight against terrorism and all current security challenges.
