The new generation of soldiers in the Serbian Armed Forces



Due to the great interest of candidates for voluntary military service under arms, the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces introduced additional referral periods and serving the military service is provided four times a year: in March, June, September and December each year.

In March 2016, it is planned to receive 665 candidates on voluntary military service under arms, out of which 600 candidates in training centres and 65 candidates as participants in the course for reserve officers at the Military Academy.

In the March referral period, 1,195 candidates applied for voluntary military service under arms, which is almost two times more than the required number of candidates.

A number of 601 candidates for voluntary military service under arms are referred to the training centres of the Serbian Armed Forces, while 46 candidates are referred to the course for reserve officers.

Out of the total number of the received candidates in the March generation, there are 81 women (74 in training centres and 7 at the course for reserve officers). The share of women in voluntary military service under arms in relation to the Referral Plan accounts for 12.18%.

For the realization of the June 2016 referral period, with break-up on 01 March 2016, we have 217 candidates for voluntary military service under arms.
