Cooperation with the European Defence Agency



State Secretary Zoran Djordjevic met today with the Director of the Capability, Armaments & Technology Directorate of the European Defence Agency Brigadier General Peter Round.

Сарадња са Европском одбрамбеном агенцијомDuring the meeting, they exchanged views on achieved and planned cooperation of the Republic of Serbia with the European Defence Agency, with a special focus on fields of cooperation under the aegis of the Capability, Armaments & Technology Directorate.

State Secretary Djordjevic noted that, with the active contribution to the Common Security and Defence Policy of the EU and in particular the cooperation with the European Defence Agency, the Republic of Serbia intends to achieve a greater degree of interoperability with the EU Member States and increase capacities for whose development the support of the Member States of the European Union is necessary.

Djordjevic also conveyed his satisfaction with the cooperation with the European Defence Agency, which, in the period since the establishment of the cooperation to this day, has recorded a significant upward trend, and pointed to the concrete results achieved by the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces within the Counter Improvised Explosive Device Project Team (PT-CIED).

They also agreed regarding expectations for further concretization and operationalization of the started cooperation to contribute to the improvement of military and defence capabilities of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, and to this end, they expressed confidence that the forthcoming visit of the Executive Director of the European Defence Agency, planned for April, will significantly contribute to the achievement of concrete results.

During the two-day visit to the Ministry of Defence and the Republic of Serbia, Brigadier General Round will have a number of meetings and will visit the Defence Technology Department of the Material Resources Sector, Department for Planning and Development (J-5) of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Military Technical Institute and the CBRN Centre in Krusevac.
