Agreement worth 213 million dinars signed with Yumco
In the presence of Minister of Defence in Bratislav Gasic, in the Directorate of Yumco in Vranje, an agreement on cooperation of the Ministry of Defence and the famous Vranje textile plant was signed. The contract worth 213 million dinars was signed by Director of the Directorate for Procurement and Sales of the Ministry of Defence Colonel Aleksandar Bukvic and General Manager of Yumco Goran Djordjevic.
Congratulating the employees in Yumco on 55 years of business, Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic said that the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in the past three years had made a significant effort by financing the return of the branded Vranje-based factory on the market.
- We found SAF uniform warehouses empty, which should never happen again. We have succeeded, primarily meeting the needs of the Serbian Armed Forces, Yumco back to life. We just signed a contract worth 213 million dinars, which will significantly increase the production of this factory in the future. Now the wages of workers are regular, they were increased in the last months; production is again at a record level, with which we at the Ministry and the Serbian Armed Forces are very satisfied. We expect that investments in Yumco will continue next year, which will significantly expand the variety of uniforms and improve the quality of dressing of members of the military. Thanks to the dedicated and good work of Yumco, we can expect a successful privatization of this well-known collective - Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic said, announcing that Yumco will begin producing summer military trousers, a model that was last produced as part of M 77 uniforms.
General Manager of Yumco Goran Djordjevic said that the contract signed with the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces provided the factory with work for the next three months, which, along with the activities carried out for the Ministry of Interior and foreign partners will further consolidate the manufacturing process of the company, which had been systematically sealed for the past 15 years.
- We are extremely pleased that the Ministry of Defence has recognized as a reliable partner and that its significant investments in recent years have enabled us to return on the market and preserve jobs - General Director of Yumco Goran Djordjevic said.
