Seminar "Strategic Defence Planning"




Organized by the OSCE Mission in Serbia, the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, Cranfield University, UK Embassy in Belgrade and the Serbian Defence Ministry, a seminar "Strategic Defence Planning" began, which will from 12 to 14 October 2015 be attended by thirty members of the Ministry Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.

The seminar was opened by Head of the Strategic Planning Department of the Ministry of Defence of Serbia Brigadier General Slobodan Joksimovic in the presence of the Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia Michael Uyehara, Deputy British Ambassador Tracy Gallagher, British defence envoy in Belgrade Colonel Simon Fitzgibbon and numerous members of the OSCE Mission to Serbia.

The lecturers are Professor Dr Ann Fitz-Gerald from Cranfield University, Lieutenant Colonel Jamie Hartley from the Defence Academy of the Great Britain and Jackie Davis of the UK Ministry of Defence.

During the seminar, they will discuss the various aspects in the field of strategic analysis, assessment and prognostics, methodology of development of strategic and planning documents in the field of defence, defence management performances, management changes in the function of defence reform, and trends in strategic analysis, evaluation, prognosis and planning.

Successful completion of the seminar will enhance the professional competence of persons from the Ministry of Defence in the field of strategic planning and create the conditions for continued cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Serbia, aimed at strengthening democratic capacities for defence management of and the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom and Cranfield University, in the field of education of members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.
