New quality in cooperation with the Defence Attaches
Within the regular activities, Head of the Department for International Military Cooperation, Navy Captain Milan Konjikovac, met with the Doyen and Vice-Doyen of the military diplomatic corps in Belgrade Colonels Jozef Vystavel and Jean-Marie Ferber, as well as with the President of the Belgrade Defence Attaché Association Colonel Leontin Ilie.
The interlocutors agreed that this year has seen qualitative improvement in terms of informing the foreign military representatives, having in mind the new practice of regular update on the activities of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in conversation with the Head of International Military Cooperation Department, for the purpose of achieving the foreign policy priorities of the Republic Serbia.
Stressing that the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, in accordance with the proclaimed neutrality, gives special attention to having a balanced approach in cooperation with partners in the East and the West, Captain Konjikovac briefed his interlocutors on the latest developments in the process of defence reform, the current engagement in peacekeeping operations under the auspices UN and EU, and plans for engagement in the forthcoming period. He briefed them on the activities of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in the framework of the Partnership for Peace and the process of Serbia's EU accession, as well as involvement in addressing the current migratory crisis, in cooperation with state and local government authorities, providing medical assistance and primary health care.
Colonels Vystavel and Ilie praised the variety and quality of contents, new activities, including regular meetings, visits to units and institutions of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, defence industry factories, presence at numerous exercises and protocol events.
They jointly stated the importance of the continuity of meetings and execution of the planned activities for members of the military diplomatic corps and Belgrade Defence Attaches Association.
