Ceremony on the occasion of the Day of the Ensemble

Tonight, in the Conference Hall of the Central Military Club, in front of numerous audience, guests from cultural and public life, as well as members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, the Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence "Stanislav Binicki" in an appropriate manner celebrated the Day of the Ensemble, which marks 116 years of making of the music history in this region.

At the beginning of the concert, the audience was addressed by Chief Commander of the Ensemble Frigate Captain Svetozar Vasileski, who reminded the attendees of the importance of Stanislav Binicki, a composer whose music has inspired us for a hundred years. He also reminded of the quality of the orchestra, and later Major Nikola Zivkovic awarded prizes to most prominent musicians in the previous concert season - Nenad Ninkovic, Danica Rener, Natasa Milosevic and Vladimir Polkaposki.

Before the beginning of the musical part of the evening, Head of Public Relations of the Ministry of Defence Navy Captain Petar Boskovic invited the audience to enjoy tonight's celebration concert, and wished the Ensemble to continue improving Serbian music, as had the officer, composer, conductor and teacher, after whom the orchestra is named.

For tonight's ceremony, the Art Ensemble Stanislav Binicki performed a selection of popular and folk melodies, which, in their own way, have marked the work of the orchestra. The first and last song of the evening's repertoire was the "March on the Drina", the melody that immortalized the victorious feats of the Serbian army in the Battle of Cer.

The repertoire also included two compositions from the movie "Montevideo, God Bless You!" - "Marijana" by Slovenian author Magnifico and "Kolce", then two well-known modern melodies “Lovestory" and "Indian Summer", and "Serbian south” prepared by Andra Todorovic. Also, the audience enjoyed the sounds of several kolo dances composed by Stanislav Binicki, which represent the beginning of the next season in which the orchestra will collaborate with the Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances of Serbia "Kolo".

The orchestra was alternately led by conductors maestro Pavle Medakovic and Major Igor Mitrovic, MSc, and they were joined by conductor of the orchestra of the Guard of the Serbian Armed Forces Captain Aleksandar Djurov.

With the music, the audience enjoyed dances, because some of the tracks were enriched by tango dancers Misa Plavsic and Mirjana Savic, as well as dancers of the Ensemble "Kolo".

- We would not be true to ourselves if we would not prepare a surprise - Chief of the Ensemble said at the end of the evening, and presented letters of thanks to the collaborators of the orchestra - the Representative Guard Orchestra, Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances of Serbia "Kolo", the television show "Time for Babies" and the youngest participant in the last season, thirteen-year-old cellists Petar Pejcic.
