Meeting between the Serbian and Belarusian chiefs of general staffs

Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Ljubisa Dikovic, have met today with Chief of General Staff of Belarus Major General Oleg Belokonev, who is also in Beijing on the occasion of the tomorrow's parade.

The two generals discussed the previous bilateral military cooperation between the armies of Serbia and Belarus and on the possibilities for its improvement. According to them, the greatest potential for the cooperation between the two countries is in the training of Special Forces and personnel training at all levels.

The Belarusian Chief of General Staff showed interest in establishing cooperation in the field of pre-deployment preparation of personnel for participation in multinational operations, where the Centre for Peacekeeping Operations of the Serbian Armed Forces would be of the greatest importance. General Belokonev stressed also the interest in the use of the CBRN Centre, noting that a Belarusian officer has already successfully completed the course in the Krusevac Centre.

The interlocutors emphasized the importance of bilateral military cooperation, noting that in the future the two countries could also establish military-technical cooperation.

Last year, Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic visited Belarus and then signed the agreement on mutual cooperation, and a part of the activities that are defined in it have already been implemented.
