Cooperation with the Czech Republic

Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic met today with Deputy Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic, Jakub Landovsky on possibilities for improving cooperation in the field of defence, as well as the current migrant crisis.

The interlocutors agreed that military cooperation between the two countries is good, but that there are objective possibilities for its improvement. Minister Gasic said that he hoped that the forthcoming visit of the Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic, Martin Stropnicky be a powerful impetus to further development of cooperation in the field of defence. It was assessed that the main areas of cooperation are military educational cooperation in the field of nuclear, biological and chemical defence. Several high-level visits were realised in the framework of the ERASMUS + Programme (exchange of teaching staff of military higher education institutions) and the Programme for improvement of education in the field of defence. There is excellent cooperation between the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Kralove and MMA Faculty of Medicine, as well as between the Joint Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Defence Centre of Excellence (JCBRN Defence COE) in Vyskov and our CBRN Centre in Krusevac as a Partnership Training and Education. Centre (PTEC).

Gasic and Landovsky discussed the military-technical and military-economic cooperation between the two countries and stressed the need to continue and enhance cooperation in these areas.

Speaking about the current situation regarding the refugee crisis, Gasic stressed that Serbia is suffering great pressure because of the large number of migrants and the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces are making their full contribution in helping migrants in our territory.
