Acting Assistant Minister for Human Resources Milos Jankovic, presented today the financial assistance to Dragica Protic, mother of 33-year-old Jugoslava Protic from Belgrade, who is undergoing treatment in Italy and is bravely fighting with recurring brain tumour. Jugoslava is, in fact, the daughter of the late Major of the Serbian Armed Forces, and the continuation of her medical treatment and therapy requires provision of around RSD 120,000 every month.

The money was collected by the members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces at the initiative of the Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic who provided support for the request of Ms. Protic and initiated the humanitarian action.

According to the Assistant Minister Jankovic, a sum of 1.063 million dinars was collected which is sufficient to cover the cost of therapy for the next one year of the treatment. He also expressed the hope that this assistance will contribute to improving Jugoslava’s health condition.

Thanks to the collected amount of financial assistance and the initiated action, Ms. Protic emphasized that she was touched by good will and humanity of people who responded to the appeal and collected money, despite the problems plaguing everyday life of each of us.
After she was diagnosed with a brain tumour, Jugoslava had the first surgery at the Military Medical Academy in 2007, and due to relapse, it was followed by two more interventions. She is currently undergoing treatment at the "Humanitas" clinic in Italy.
