The Armed Forces helping in Golubac

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic visited today the SAF members deployed in repairing the damage caused by torrent floods and clearing the mud in Golubac.

Over 50 soldiers in voluntary military service with arms, members of the Army Training Center from Pozarevac are deployed in Golubac starting today.

After visiting the SAF members, Minister attended the session of the municipal Emergency Staff, and spoke with representatives of the local self-government about the next steps in deployment of SAF members in flood relief in Branicevo district.

MoD and SAF spokesperson Corvette Captain Jovan Krivokapic stated that the SAF members would help in Golubac as long as needed.

- We have planned for a larger number of members and possible aid to the residents in providing washing tanks and dryers. Moreover, an SAF representative is always present at Emergency Staff sessions. Last year, we were also deployed wherever it was necessary, and we will stay by our citizens in the future as well – Corvette Captain Krivokapic said.

President of the Municipality of Golubac Dr. Nebojsa Mijovic said that, luckily for everyone, “as of today, our Armed Forces are also helping Golubac”, and thanked them for the support.

On Sunday, 24th May, a large storm with heavy rain and hail hit areas in Branicevo district, and the damages are being repaired today as well.
