Continuation of the successful cooperation between Serbia and US in the field of defence
Head of the International Military Cooperation Department Battleship Captain Milan Konjikovac and U.S. Defense Attaché Colonel Taft Blackburn signed today at the Ministry of Defence the Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for 2016.
With the signed Plan, key areas of cooperation of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces with the United States European Command in the next period have been defined, where the most prominent are the continuation of joint work on the development of South Base, participation in international military exercises, and joint training of members of the two Armed Forces.Battleship Captain Konjikovac and Colonel Blackburn also stated that he bilateral military cooperation and exchange of knowledge and practices between the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and the United States European Command greatly contributed to the improvement of operative and functional capabilities of both sides. In this sense, they particularly emphasized the fact that the signed Plan meant the support to stated requests of internal units of the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, in accordance with the capabilities of the United States European Command and the Ohio National Guard.
Both sides expressed content with the realization of joint activities of bilateral military cooperation, with the belief that the realization of a great number of quality activities would continue in the next period as well. The interlocutors also discussed the upcoming high-level visits and realization of bilateral defence consultations and stated that they would certainly give an added impulse and support to the development of cooperation of the two countries in the field of defence.
