Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan with the Russian Federation signed
Head of the Department for International Military Cooperation Battleship Captain Milan Konjikovac spoke today with defence attaché of the Russian Federation in Belgrade Colonel Valery Volkov.
Both sides expressed content with the achieved continuity of high-level visits in the past period, which further confirms the great relations established on strategic partnership level. To this effect, Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic’s attendance at the upcoming 4th Moscow International Convention in April this year has been confirmed.
Gratitude was conveyed for the support of the Russian Federation to territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia and the efforts for a peaceful solution to the issues in Kosovo and Metohija, through dialog of interested parties.
Battleship Captain Konjikovac particularly stressed that Serbia remains dedicated to the concept of military neutrality and that it will retain its equal cooperation with its Eastern and Western partners, based on partnership relations and mutual respect.
The principled stance of the Republic of Serbia on obeying territorial integrity of all UN states was once more conveyed. Moreover, it was expressed that dialogue of interested parties is the best solution for overcoming all disputes and issues. During its chairing over OSCE, in a transparent, unbiased and objective way, Serbia will guide the activities of the organization, in order to contribute to establishing and sustaining global peace.
The interlocutors agreed that cooperation in the field of defence has reached a high level of general and political bilateral relations. As stated, the focus fields of the cooperation are military-military, military-educational, military-medical and military-technical cooperation, It was stated that modalities for qualitative improvement of cooperation should be found in the next period, which would be beneficial for both sides.
At the end of the meeting, the Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for 2015 was signed.
