Regional defence cooperation



Delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, headed by Lieutenant Colonel Goran Nestorovic, representative of the Head of the Bilateral Cooperation Sector of the International Military Cooperation Department, participated at the 33rd meeting of Committee for Political Military Management and the 32nd meeting of the Coordination Committee of Cooperation Process of Southeast European Defence Ministrial (SEDM), held on March 18 and 18 in Bucharest, Romania.

Регионална одбрамбена сарадњаAt the meeting of the Political Military Management Committee, which representatives of the Republic of Serbia attended as observers, a discussion was lead on activities of the peacekeeping South East Europe Brigade – SEEBRIG, on important events realized by this brigade in the past period, its future tasks in the field of training and exercises, and on the state of staff and current issues.

As full members of the Coordination Committee, representatives of the Republic of Serbia stated the belief that SEDM represents a rather important regional forum which, gathering the largest number of states of the South East Europe, possesses the necessary capacity to appropriately respond to the challenges of regional defence cooperation. Furthermore, representatives of other SEDM countries were informed on priorities during Serbia’s chairing over Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in 2015, the dedication to participation in further process of optimization of regional initiatives in South East Europe, and active engagement in SEDM projects such as the Interconnection of military hospitals, Building integrity and the Role of women leaders in the field of defence and security.
