University of Defence promotes new PhDs



University of Defence promotes new PhDs The ceremonial promotion of 13 PhDs of the University of Defence has been held today at the Centre for Simulation and Distance Learning of the Military Academy. PhDs were awarded the diplomas by the Rector of the University Major General Prof. Mladen Vuruna.

The ceremony which was held on the occasion of the celebration of the University of Defence Day – 24 February, and four years of its establishment, was attended by representatives of that higher education institution, heads of the Military Academy and the MMA Medical Faculty, members of the committee for evaluation and defence of the doctoral dissertation and family members of new PhDs.

General Vuruna said that the University of Defence is "young and not too big", but that it includes two very important higher education institutions of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.

University of Defence promotes new PhDs - A number of 13 new PhDs speaks about the continuity of the many decades long education. It also tells that we will continue to have cadre that will be able to cope with all the challenges and problems that might arise in the defence system, and to solve them by applying scientific methods, the Rector of the University of Defence said.

Vice-rector for scientific research activity of the University of Defence Prof. Mirjana Zivotic-Vanovic introduced new PhDs – lieutenant colonels Aleksandar Cakic, Dejan Ivkovic, Dragan Petkovic, then majors Dalibor Jovanovic, Nenad Dimitrijevic and Damir Jerkovic and civilians Dusan Curcic and retired Colonel Pavle Pavkovic.

Lieutenant colonels assistants Zoran Trifunovic, Zoran Kostic, Milomir Gacevic, Dane Nenadic and a civilian Assistant Aneta Peric also received the PhD title.
