Cooperation in the field of defence with Algeria
Delegation of the Ministry of Defence, headed by Rector of the University of Defence Major General Dr. Mladen Vuruna visited the Ministry of National Defence of Algeria and participated in the third session of the Serbian-Algerian committee for cooperation in the field of defence. During the plenary session and meeting of the sub-committee for military, military economic, military medical and military educational cooperation, realized activities in 2014 were analyzed, and the Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for 2015 was created.
Participants agreed that cooperation in the field of defence should be intensified primarily in the fields of military economic, military medical and military educational cooperation, and through military and other forms of cooperation of mutual interest.
Representatives of the government-owned corporation “Jugoimport – SDPR” presented possibilities and capacities and concrete offers for further development of cooperation and realization of joint projects in the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria of special importance for the Algerian Armed Forces.
The Delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia was received by Head of the Department for Organization and Logistics at the General Staff of the Army, Major General Ghriss Abdelhamid, also the co-President of the Algerian part of the Mixed Committee, and Ambassador if the republic of Serbia to Algeria Miroslav Sestovic.
The traditionally friendly relations between the two countries and people have been further improved with the establishment of strategic cooperation in the field of defence, with good foundations for cooperation to be spread into other fields of economy of mutual interest.
The fourth Session of the Mixed Committee is planned to take place at the end of 2015 in Belgrade.
