Exhibition for the Day of the Air Force and Air Defence

On the occasion of the upcoming Day of the Air Force and Air Defence, at “Icarus” gallery at the Air Defence Command, an exhibition was opened last night, featuring items of the Museum of Yugoslav Air Force, a setup by Asscociation “Milutin Milankovic” and an exhibition of authorial photographs “To the masters of the sky, the bastions of our country” by Pilot Major Dragoljub Stefanovic.

- The Air Force is grateful to Milutin Milankovic’s contribution to development of infrastructure at numerous airports from Skopje to Bezanija, where today, as a cultural monument, stands the hangar projected by Milankovic himself. The object we’re currently in also bears Milutin Milankovic’s mark. For that, in a way, we are repaying him, expressing our commitment for it to be of much more substance and detail further on – it has been stated at the opening of the exhibition with gratitude to the Association Milutin Milankovic for alloweing for a part of its activities to be available at today’s manifestation, and for their readiness for future joint actions.

Major Pilot Dragoljub Stefanovic exhibited 45 photographs - symbolically, as he stated, because he had turned 45 – which he took during flights in Air Defence aircrafts. His love for planes began in his childhood, when he decided to become a pilot and abandon the centuries-long family tradition of watchmaking and jewelry crafting. He graduated in the 41st class of the Air Force Military Academy and had flown all variants of MiG-21 planes that were part of our arms. Currently, he flies Super Galeb G-4 and Utva 75 aircraft. He has been working with digital photography since 2010. He has had several group exhibitions, where he has received numerous awards and acknowledgements, and his works have been published in Aero Magazine, Rephoto and other magazines. This has been his second independent exhibition.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by Air Defence Commander Major General Ranko Zivak, Deputy Air Defence Commander Miodrag Gordic, PhD, Head of the Command Staff of Air Defence Brigadier General Dejan Joksimovic, and numerous guests were addressed by academic Veljko Vujicic, former Dean of the Faculty of Sciences in Belgrade, member of the International Academy of Nonlinear Sciences in Moscow, member of the American Academy for Mechanics and a member of the European Academy of Sciences; Magister Slavko Maksimovic, President of the Association Milutin Milankovic; Miroslav Predojevic, master of photography, member of ULUPUDS (Association of Applied Arts Artists and Designers of Serbia) Belgrade and President of the Arts Council of the Photo Association of Serbia, and the author of the photographs Major Dragoljub Stefanovic.
