Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan with Poland signed
At the Republic of Poland, bilateral defence consultations have been held between Heads of International Military Cooperation Departments of the Ministries of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Poland. Both sides stated that military cooperation between the two defence ministries is good and that the past three years have been marked by a significant qualitative and quantitative improvement. It has been stated that, considering the friendly relations between the two countries and the interests of the defence systems, there is room for its improvement.
Head of the Department for International Military Cooperation Colonel Milan Konjikovac conveyed gratitude for the support of the republic of Poland in the process of Euro integrations, for their solidarity during the disastrous floods in the Republic of Serbia and professional deployment of members of the Armed Forces of Poland in KFOR. He presented future engagements, and activities of the Ministry of Defence in the course of the EU accession process. He introduced his interlocutors with Republic of Serbia’s goals during its chairing over OSCE in 2015 and cooperation mechanisms within the Partnership for Peace Program. Analyzing present cooperation, he stressed that the greatest part of realized activities in 2014 were from the domain of military education, which is a result of exceptionally good cooperation between the two defence universities. He suggested establishing cooperation of special units in the field of CBRN as well.
Colonel Lech Drab restated Poland’s willingness to share experiences in the domain of security and defence aspects of EU accession, cooperation with European Defence Agency, engagement within the Common Security and Defence Policy and concept of EU battle groups. He also stressed the importance of exchanging observes in exercises, with the goal of developing interoperability and improving operative capabilities of the two militaries, and the need to improve military economic cooperation.
During the talks, interlocutors exchanged opinions on current regional and global political security situation. Both sides confirmed their dedication to continue with high-level meetings in order to define strategic guidelines for improvement of cooperation in the field of defence.
At the end of the meeting, the Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for 2015 was devised and signed.
During the visit to the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Poland, the delegation visited the Military Gendarmerie and the University of National Defence.
