Concert "The road to bel canto" held at the Central Military Club



Tonight, at the Gala Hall of the Central Military Club of Serbia, the Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence “Stanislav Binicki” held concert titled “The road to bel canto”, in association with students of the Faculty of Music, which is a part of the cycle of concerts of Prof. Nikola Kitanovski and pianist Milivoje Veljic.

The concert was conducted by Vesna Souc, and performances were given by sopranos: Ivana Petrovic, Ana Stankovic, Evgenija Jeremic, Marija Cuposka, Ana Marcetic; mezzo-sopranos: Ljubica Vranes and Dragana Popovic and tenors: Ljubomir Popovic and Vanja Bisercic.

They performed compositions from Verdi’s “Othello”, “The Sicilian Vespers”, “Luisa Miller” and “Aida”, Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale”, Dvorak’s “Rusalka”, Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly” and “Tosca”, Bizet’s “Carmen” and others, and lastly they gave a joint performance of a composition from “La Traviata”.

Head of the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Defence Colonel Petar Boskovic informed the guests that such and similar concerts will from now on be organized at the Central Military Club of Serbia at least once a month.

The project “The road to bel canto” gives young singers the opportunity to use the newly acquired skills and knowledge from the field of singing art in public performances. So far, eight operatic gala concerts have been held in cooperation with the Ensemble “Binicki”.
