Minister Gasic at the 3rd International Sports Fair

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic visited the 3rd International Sports Fair “Sports side of Serbia” which opened today in Belgrade. He attended the display of training of Special Purpose Military Police Battalion “Cobras”, whose members demonstrated combat skills they use in realization of their tasks, after which, accompanied by Minister of Youth and Sports Vanja Udovicic, he visited booths of the Water Polo and Handball Federations, Sports Federation of the City of Krusevac and the Paralympic Committee of Serbia.

Minister Gasic congratulated Udovicic on a successfully organized manifestation, and particularly stressed the significance of the visit to paralympians.

- there are many former members of the Armed Forces of Serbia that are, unfortunately, disabled, and they have the chance to be a unique bridge to sportsmen with special needs who need all available resources of the Ministry of Defence – Minister said, adding that it is very important to work with the Ministry of Youth and Sports on mutual goals, and that the Sports Fair is a manifestation Serbia needs.

The Fair, which is international in its nature for the first time this year, was previously opened by Minister of Youth and Sports Vanja Udovicic, who stressed that sportsmen are the pride of the nation and the best ambassadors of their country to the world.

- We will continue doing everything to create conditions for the sports to keep progressing, and special efforts will be invested in development of children’s and school sports – Udovicic said, and announced further investments in sports infrastructure, “in spite of difficult times”.

Chief of Delegation at CISM Brigadier General Sinisa Radovic held a massively attended presentation where he presented the Military Sports Council, mission and goals of this organization established in 1948, and achievements of Serbian sportsmen in competitions under the auspices of CISM.
