A visit from NATO expert team in the course of the Defense Education Enhancement Program



Посета експертског тима НАТО у оквиру Програма за унапређење образовног процеса у области одбране Delegation of the NATO Expert Team, headed by Jean d' Andurain visited today the Rectorate of the University of Defence of the Ministry of Defence in the course of the Defense Education Enhancement Program (DEEP). The goals of the two-day working visit are analysis of realization of activities of DEEP for 2014, and coordination and planning of activities for the next year.

Addressing the importance of the visit, Rector of the University of Defence Lieutenant General Miodrag Jevtic, PhD stressed that today marks just one year since the institution he heads has had this mission, expressing content with the opportunity to improve our educational process.

- We are fully committed to making sure that, after their graduation, our officers will not only execute immediate tasks, but will also be an academically educated, compatible and active participant of our society, and will be ready to cooperate with our officer colleagues from other countries – General Jevtic stressed, stating that Serbia has come from a difficult period of importing security to the stage of exporting security around the world.

According to Head of the NATO delegation Jean d' Andurain, when working on The Defense Education Enhancement Program began a year ago, the goal was to find the best way to establish cooperation, and then, two directions in the cooperation plan were set – interoperability and accreditation.

Посета експертског тима НАТО у оквиру Програма за унапређење образовног процеса у области одбране - We call this kind of cooperation the intellectual interoperability, which means that, in order to be able to do everything together, we need to make sure we share the interest in certain issues - D' Andurain assessed, adding that foundations for the intellectual interoperability are same values, same aspirations and efforts.

The meetings during the working visit of the NATO expert team were also attended by representatives of organizational units of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia.

The Defense Education Enhancement Program (DEEP) is an innovative multinational initiative for education which was designed to help partnership and other countries build their capacities through education reform in the system of defence and to incorporate values in the spirit of the Partnership for Peace.
