Gasic and Changlong - strategic partnership between Serbia and China confirmed
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic and Vice-Chairman of the Central Military Commission General Fan Changlong agreed during their meeting in Beijing that the strategic partnership between Serbia and China gains confirmation through the increasingly substantial defence cooperation.
- China’s foreign policy is based on abidance of the principle of peaceful co-existence and respect of all factors in international relations, which can also be seen in their support for the resolution of the of Kosovo and Metohija issue, which we appreciate greatly – Gasic said. He also stressed that Serbia is principled in its support for the policy of “one China”, which means that it respects and appreciates China’s attitude in relation to the resolution of issues of Taiwan, Tibet and Xinjiang.Bratislav Gasic said that he expects that the arrival of the Chinese Prime Minister to Belgrade to the third Summit of China and countries of Central and Eastern Europe in December will be a strong impulse to further intensification of overall bilateral cooperation. He also stressed that the Government of Serbia is ready to persevere on the path of reforms and to create a better business ambient for economic prosperity of our country.
Minister Gasic thanked again for the help of 155 thousand euros that China had donated to Serbia after the floods in May, and for the successive military help in the last several years, including the recently signed Agreement on Military Donation worth 1.1 million dollars.
