A visit from the Minister of Defence of Macedonia

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic spoke today, at the House of the Guard in Topcider, with Minister of Defence of the Republic of Macedonia Zoran Jolevski about the bilateral cooperation in the field of defence.

Minister Gasic stressed that, in 2014, over 20 joint activities have been planned with the Ministry of Defence of Macedonia, and that most of them have been realized.

- We talked about the experiences we have gained from peacekeeping operations about using the capacities of “South” base, CBRN Center in Krusevac and about joint preparations of emergency situations units. Security risks have increased in this part of the Balkans, due to deployment of individuals from the region in combat activities – Defence Minister said.

The Macedonian Minister said that the relations such as those that the two neighboring countries, Serbia and Macedonia have are extremely important.

- This visit proves the firm dedication to develop cooperation with Serbia. Military staff education and training are of great importance, and it was a great honor to visit the Military and Military Medical Academy whose capacities and possibilities are impressive. We intend to establish close cooperation with the two institutions, and I expect for it to develop at a fast rate – Minister Jolevski said.

Ministers Gasic and Jolevski participated early this week in the Regional roundtable about UN peacekeeping missions “Being a Peacekeeper” in Belgrade.
