Scientific Conference OTEH 2014 opened
In organization of the Ministry of Defence and the Military Technical Institute in Belgrade, the International Scientific Conference on Defensive Technologies OTEH 2014 is being held.
Opening the conference, Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic stressed that investing in the defence system strengthens the entire industrial potential of Serbia, explaining that with the fact that defence and military industry are some of the most vital branches of the national industry.
- We have always supported the sustaining and development of defence industry with concrete measures through research and development projects in the field of arms – Gasic said, adding that that today’s conference is a chance for all the actors involved in defence technology activities to gather in one place. He stated that “Ministry of Defence has always been and will be open for international military technical cooperation, which is proven by the large number of international visitors.”
Minister of Defence expressed his content that the tradition of OTEH is continued, adding that the public will be able to see a part of the projects currently developed by the MTI at the parade, on October 16.
MTI Director Colonel Doc. Zoran Rajic, PhD pointed out that, in its long tradition, the Military Technical Institute has proved to be one of the leaders in the region when it comes to defence technology development.
- A great number of national and international colleagues dealing with defence technologies are in Belgrade today, which is a chance for us to see how we rank in relation to them, and to exchange opinions, knowledge and practices – MTI Director said, adding that this year’s OTEH is the most visited so far. He said that MTI will be represented at the military parade by eight larger means, and that the modular missile system, especially the 122 millimeter automatized howitzer and drones will certainly draw the most attention.
After opening the conference, Minister Gasic visited the trisonic wind tunnel T-38 and a part of the laboratory capacities.
OTEH is an international technical gathering of researchers from the field of defence technologies that has been held since 2005 with the goal of a comprehensive and multidiscipline overview of current events in this field. In the next two days, authors from Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Macedonia, Sudan, Belarus, Canada, United Kingdom, Algeria and Austria will present 157 scientific papers from the field of defence technologies.
