Minister Gasic handed over keys to the apartments from the Fund for Social Insurance of the Military Insured
Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic handed over today in Mirijevo keys to nine apartments to retired members of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia. They are interested parties of the Fund for Social Insurance of the Military Insured that had lost their homes on the territory of former republics after the breakup of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
According to Minister Gasic, today’s handover brought an emotional moment, since families of nine retired members, who had worked their entire life at the Armed Forces of Serbia, got a roof over their heads.
- In the next two years, if this pace continues, everything successfully introduced in the past 120 days will be followed through, so that no member of the SAF, whether active or retired, has their residential issue unresolved – Minister Gasic pointed out.
He also said that about 19.5 thousand members of the defence system still have their residential issue unresolved; however, that number is decreasing, since there are various ways of settling this matter.
- Many are interested in taking mortgage loans, for which we have allocated significant funds in 2104, and it will also be included in the Budget Plan for 2015 – Minister of Defence stressed, adding that the new-coming members of the defence system will also be taken care of, more than it was the case in the previous period. He also pointed out that there is a large number of categories of mortgage interested parties, but that the files are being finished more quickly and that the lists are being revised.
Today, the key to the apartment in Kisela Voda Street in Mirijevo was also given to Stanislava Zec, who had waited with her family for 19 years for her residential issue to be resolved; in the meantime, she had lost her husband and her son. She expressed her gratitude to Serbia and the Armed Forces for getting the apartment where she will live with her daughter, after so many years of waiting in various temporary accommodations.
