Gasic opened the bridge on the Ribarska River

The bridge that was set up yesterday at the Local Community of Kaona, on the Ribarska River, by members of the 210th Engineering Battalion of the Second Army Brigade was opened today by Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic. The previous bridge, used by citizens of three villages, had been damaged during the floods so the citizens had to use the 15 kilometers longer roundabout road.

Addressing the present citizens and media representatives, Minister Gasic pointed out that the Armed Forces of Serbia had once again the bigger part of responsibility and work and actively participated in renewing damaged facilities.
- These people are dedicated to their calling, to their country and nothing is too hard for them when it comes to serving their people. They have to be here for the sake of safety. By now, we have set up 34 bridges in Serbia. They will stay here until old bridges are repaired and restored to their original state.
At this point, the Armed Forces are also actively engaged at Kolubara coal basins, where our pontoon units have been for two months and where we are trying to pump out the water 60 meters deep in order to start working on extracting coal, so that we don’t have problems during the winter season – Minister said.

Colonel Sinisa Kresovic, Commander of the Krusevac Garrison, talked about characteristics of the heavy mechanized bridge. He said that the maximum load of the bridge is about 40 tons; that it is 20 meters long and that everything the citizens of the village of Susice need can be transported over it.

Minister Gasic also visited “Car Lazar” barracks in order to see the progress of the finishing work on the parking lot and adaptation of the CBRN Center premises. Means from donations have been allocated for carrying out these works.
