16th Memorial Regatta "Zoran Radosavljevic"
On Saturday, June 14, and Sunday, June 15 at the Danube and the Sava in Belgrade, a 16th Memorial Regatta “Zoran Radosavljevic” was held in the memory of pilot and yachtsman Major Zoran Radosavljevic, member of the 127th fighting escadrille “Knights” of the Armed Forces of Yugoslavia, who died defending his country on March 27, 1999.
From the starting point of the regatta at the Zemun Quay to the finish line at Usce, 19 yacht crews competed in “micro” division – 5,5 meters long with 3-member crews and “cruiser” – over 5,5 meters long with numerous crew members. At the Marine on the coast of the Sava between the Ada Bridge and the New Railway Bridge, 44 boys and girls to age 14 competed in the “optimist” division.
At the “cruiser” division, after careful collection and adding the results from the first and the second day, the 1st place was won by the crew of the “Imagine” ship, led by skipper Dragan Stojsavljevic, the 2nd place belonged to the crew of “Min” with skipper Velizar Pavlovic and the 3rd place was won by the crew led by skipper Edvard Filipovic in “Irupe”. At “micro” division, the best results were achieved by “Microtoner” with skipper Djordje Poznic, 2nd place belonged to “4ME” with Jovan Crnogorac and the 3rd place was won by “Sky 1” under the leadership of Miodrag Dokmanovic.
Organizers of the regatta were the “Zoran Radosavljevic” Association, Yacht Club Zemun and the Ministry of Defence. Lieutenant Colonel Svetislav Soskic, coordinator of the regatta, pointed out that significant help had been provided by the Ministry of Interior of Serbia – the Marine Police, Ministry of Transportation, Port Captaincy, the First Steamboat Association, and “Beomarina”. The winning throne was also shared by three cadets of the Military Academy from award winning yachts: Dejan Jovanovic, Nikola Popov and Andrijana Lukovic.
The Memorial Yacht Regatta “Zoran Radosavljevic” was first held in 1999 in Montenegro, and since May 2007 has been organized in Belgrade.
