General Dikovic at the Balkan CHOD's Conference in Sarajevo
Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic participated in the 8th Balkan CHOD's Conference, which has been held in Sarajevo today.
The conference was opened by Major General Anto Jelec, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the participants were also addressed by Zivko Marjanac, Deputy Minister of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina for Resource Management.
The conference presented activities, capacities, capability parameters and current projects of the Technical Overhaul Institute in Kragujevac, as the regional centre for the demilitarization of ordnance.
General Dikovic had separate talks with General Jelec, as well as with Admiral Bruce Clingan, Commander of the Allied Joint Force Command, Naples.
During the interview with General Jelec on further enhancing cooperation with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, general Dikovic conveyed to his counterpart from Bosnia sincere condolences for all the victims of the recent floods in the territory of that neighbouring country, as well as a desire for all the damage to be repaired as soon as possible.
The Balkan CHOD's Conference is an important initiative for strengthening military cooperation among the Balkan countries. The essence of the activities of this initiative is training and education, or activities in which the required level of interoperability can be jointly acquired which enables joint action in various situations. Emphasis is particularly given to cooperation in countering and preventing situations caused by natural disasters because it was just in these countries that they have recently faced very serious problems of that sort. Member countries of this initiative are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Turkey and Montenegro.
At this year's conference, guest participants are General Patrick de Rousiers, Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, Lieutenant General Mark Schissler, Deputy Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Bruce Clingan, Commander of the Allied Joint Force Command, Naples, Major General Dobran Bozic, Slovenian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff, as well as representatives of the Croatian Armed Forces, EUFOR and NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo.
