Minister Gasic coordinates flood relief activities in Obrenovac
After this morning's decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia that the Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic is to coordinates all activities related to the flood relief and assisting citizens in Obrenovac, the Minister chaired the first meeting of the expanded Emergency Response Headquarters in this city which was attended by the State Secretary Zoran Djordjevic, Lieutenant General Jovica Draganic, Deputy Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Aleksandar Zivkovic, Army Commander, Sinisa Mali, Mayor of Belgrade, and other members of that body.
Presenting the coordinated activities, Minister Gasic announced for tonight the commencement of action to complete all the tasks that the Headquarters is to face with in Obrenovac.
- Starting from tomorrow morning, over a hundred trucks will be on the streets of the city, and the citizens will be assisted by thousands of soldiers of the Serbian Armed Forces in removal and loading of the garbage – the defence minister pointed out adding that the Headquarters will be under the joint command of General Zivkovic and Milenko Bozovic, Commander of the Gendarmerie.
Minister Gasic added that further steps have been agreed with Sinisa Mali, Mayor of Belgrade and he expects that Obrenovac will be mostly ready to take its citizens back by Friday evening.
- The Serbian Armed Forces will set up two large field hospitals, at all the entrances to the city veterinary services will be stationed, with disinfection blockades, and all CBRN resources at our disposal will be included to accomplish the clean-up and disinfection of the ground as soon as possible – Minister of Defence announced.
At the today’s meeting of the Government of Serbia, it was concluded that Gasic, on behalf of the executive power, will manage activities for the provision of the living conditions in Obrenovac, helping citizens and organizations that have suffered damage, as well as the elimination of the consequences of flooding.
