Press Conference on the occasion of "Spring in Belgrade" Festival

On the occasion of the upcoming "Spring in Belgrade" festival, to be held in the Great Hall of the Trade Union House in Belgrade, on 16, 17 and 18 May, a press conference has been organized today, where the organizers presented the programme of that music event.

Speaking about the need for Serbia to have a festival of this kind, Lieutenant Colonel Stanislav Stoiljkovic, Head of the "Stanislav Binički" Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence, said that the event will provide an opportunity for composers and primarily young performers to demonstrate their knowledge.

- The Ministry of Defence has recognized the importance of the event and turned to the Belgrade City Hall and the Tourist Organization of the capital with an initiative to jointly organize it, as pointed out by Stojiljkovic who is also president of the Festival, in which organization, in addition to the aforementioned institutions, Composers' Association of Serbia participates as well.

Artistic director of the "Spring in Belgrade", composer and conductor Vojkan Borisavljevic, said that it is a wish of the organizers that after 15 years Belgrade receives a quality music festival.

- It will be a brand new festival, which is based on the tradition of the former "Belgrade spring", Borisavljevic said announcing three festival nights this weekend at the Trade Union House.

At the first, review festival evening, on Friday, 16th May at 20:00 hours, the well-known compositions by local authors that appeared in the period between 1960 and 1980 and acquired the title of evergreen, will be performed. The performers will be the renowned artists led by Lola Novakovic, Nada Pavlovic, Maja Odzaklijevska, Lena Kovacevic and others.

- The next day, on Saturday, 17th May at 17:00 hours, there follows the final night of children's music, during which 16 new compositions will be performed, and the last day of the festival is reserved for the competitive evening of entertainment and pop music, Vojkan Borisavljevic announced and pointed out that 16 brand new compositions will bring a significant improvement compared to what we were used to listen to in the recent years in our country.

- These are all great performers who will be performing live, accompanied by "Stanislav Binicki" Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence, with five conductors changing before them, which promises us a renaissance of entertainment and pop music in our country.

Ms Ivana Trisic, President of the Composers Guild, reminded that we missed a festival like this all these years and it will be neither glamorous nor commercial, but it will bring good lyrics, inventive compositions and excellent arrangements.
