Minister of Defence meets German Ambassador



Bratislav Gasic, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, met today with Heinz Wilhelm, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Minister Gasic informed the German Ambassador about the priorities of the new Government of the Republic of Serbia.

At the meeting, it was concluded that the cooperation between Serbia and Germany in the field of defence is developed, and that there is room for its improvement. Main areas are military-educational and military-medical cooperation and preparations for the participation of the members of the armed forces in multinational operations.

"The Republic of Serbia is interested in joint participation with members of the armed forces of Germany in the European Union mission in Mali, which is one of the priorities of the Serbian Ministry of Defence in the future", Minister Gasic said.

Minister Gasic and Ambassador Wilhelm talked about the priorities of the Ministry of Defence in the regional cooperation, cooperation between the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces within the framework of the Partnership for Peace programme, European Union Common Security and Defence Policy, as well as the engagement of the members of the Serbian Armed Forces in multinational operations.

The Minister thanked for the German support to EU integration of our country, as well as a very correct cooperation with the German contingent within KFOR.

They emphasized the importance of compliance and the signing of the new Agreement on Defence Cooperation, as well as the continuity of high-level visits. Defence Minister extended an invitation to Ms Ursula von der Leyen, German Minister of Defence, to visit Serbia.
