Towards the 54th International Cycling Race "Tour of Serbia 2014"

Meeting of the Organizing Committee of the 54th International Cycling Race "Tour of Serbia 2014" was held today at the Central Military Club. Senior sponsor of the event in which, as expected, teams from more than 20 countries around the world will take part, is Mr Tomislav Nikolic, President of the Republic of Serbia. The race will be held from 17 to 22 June, under the slogan - "Along the paths of freedom of our forefathers" and will be dedicated to the celebration of the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.

Mr Nebojsa Rodic, Minister of Defence in the caretaker government, President of the Organizing Committee of this year's race, said at a press conference organized on this occasion that we must change the way of thinking when it comes to organizing major sporting competitions in the country. Minister Rodic recalled that the famous race "Tour de France" is not financed from the budget, but it was designed and organized so as to be profitable. Rodic said that despite the funding problems, the race will certainly be realised at a high level.

Session of the Organizing Committee, in addition to other members, was attended also by Mr Vanja Udovicic, Minister of Youth and Sports in the caretaker government, Vladimir Bozovic, State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ljubomir Zivanovic the Race Director, Nikola Mirkov, Acting Director of the Serbian Broadcasting Company and representatives of the local governments of the cities through which the race will go.

The "Tour of Serbia 2014" race will start in Pozarevac, and will go through: Krusevac, Priboj, Pale, Ruma and Belgrade with finishing point and final announcement of the winners.
