Active and retired members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces have received today the keys of newly built apartments on the site of the former "Stepa Stepanovic" barracks in Belgrade.

Today we are delivering 18 keys of 779 apartments, as provided for the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces. There are still 95 residential units that are to be handed over. This will not stop, we will continue to work hard, because there are plans for the division of apartments and other cities in Serbia, the State Secretary said and the told the audience by Latin proverb that "Ones own home is the best home".

Sergeant Major Goran Veljkovic has been working in the military since 1983. After 23 years of tenancy life, he is moving today his four-member family into the new apartment.

- From the date of his arrival to Belgrade I have been waiting for an apartment. I feel very good, and everything still seems unreal. Maybe it will a few days before I believe in what happened to me, Sergeant Veljkovic said and his wife added that it is a great joy for the whole family that after so many years enters its own apartment.

Today's handing over of keys was attended by Colonel Milan Sladoje, Head of the Department for Infrastructure of the Material Resources Sector of the Ministry of Defence, Lieutenant Colonel Davorko Palikuca, Head of "Belgrade" Military Construction Centre, and Nebojsa Surlan, Director of the Building Directorate of Serbia.
